EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a highly effective, evidence-based approach used in trauma therapy and mental health treatment. EMDR helps individuals heal from distressing life experiences—whether major traumas or everyday events that continue to impact your emotions, relationships, or sense of self. If you're struggling with anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, disordered eating, or negative body image, EMDR therapy may offer the deep relief and healing you’re looking for.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR doesn’t require you to revisit or talk in detail about painful experiences. Instead, the process uses bilateral stimulation—typically eye movements—while you briefly focus on a troubling memory. This helps your brain reprocess the experience, reducing its emotional charge and allowing you to move forward without being overwhelmed by the past.
Many clients seek EMDR therapy for PTSD, childhood trauma, relationship wounds, perfectionism, or unresolved emotional pain that surfaces as chronic stress, fear, or anger. Even seemingly small experiences—like being criticized, excluded, or let down—can shape how we feel about ourselves today. EMDR helps uncover and resolve these stored emotional patterns that may be at the root of current challenges.
Endorsed by the World Health Organization, American Psychological Association, and other leading health organizations, EMDR is recognized as one of the most effective treatments for trauma and emotional recovery. It’s also increasingly used in online EMDR therapy to reach clients from the comfort of their own home.
In addition to healing the past, EMDR strengthens your ability to connect with positive inner resources like calm, confidence, and empowerment—supporting lasting change that goes beyond symptom relief.

EMDR therapy works by helping the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer feel overwhelming or “stuck.” Our brains are naturally wired to heal, using key areas like the amygdala (the brain’s alarm system), the hippocampus(which processes memory), and the prefrontal cortex (which regulates thinking and emotions). When these systems are overwhelmed by trauma, memories can remain unprocessed, triggering distress long after the event has passed.
Trauma can disrupt the brain’s normal coping mechanisms, leaving you in a persistent state of fight, flight, or freeze. This can show up as anxiety, flashbacks, emotional numbness, or feeling stuck in past experiences. EMDR therapy reactivates the brain’s natural healing ability by using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements), helping the mind safely reprocess the memory and reduce its emotional intensity.
After EMDR, the memory remains—but the emotional charge does not. You may still recall the event, but it no longer feels as distressing or intrusive. EMDR helps restore a sense of safety and balance, allowing you to move forward with greater calm and clarity. description

Payment is due at the time of each session and can be made using a credit card, debit card, or HSA/FSA card. For your convenience, a secure card is kept on file through my HIPAA-compliant client portal and is automatically charged at the end of your appointment day. If you have out-of-network insurance benefits, I can provide a superbill or submit claims on your behalf through Mentaya to help you seek possible reimbursement.

I don’t work directly with insurance companies, which allows me to provide more personalized, high-quality care. However, you may still be able to get reimbursed through your out-of-network benefits. I partner with a service called Mentaya to submit superbills on your behalf, making the process easier for you. Using out-of-network benefits gives you the freedom to choose the therapist who’s the best fit for you.

To ensure that time is reserved specifically for you, we require a minimum of 72 hours' notice for rescheduling or canceling an appointment. If a session is canceled less than 72 hours in advance, the full fee will be charged.
Late Arrivals: Each treatment session is scheduled with specific start and end times, with other clients before and/or after your appointment. As such, late arrivals will not receive an extension of their session, and the original session fee will still apply.
